1. Redeeming Love - This is my absolute all time favorite. I don't know what it is about this book that captures me but I've read it 3 times and I look forward to reading it for a 4th time this summer. It is about a girl who is sold into prostitution as a child. She escapes to California during the gold rush only to fall yet again into prostitution. A farmer catches a glimpse of her and is told by God, she is the one he will marry. The story follows her as she learns to forgive herself and love.

2. To Kill a Mockingbird - A classic, obviously. I love this story told from a girls point of view about racism. I'm anxious to read this classic again.

3. Hunger Games - A new favorite. This is the first book in a three book series. I'm hooked. I love the controversy and I can see how it parallels to the path our country is on now. It is about a country divided into 12 districts. Each year they have a lottery and one boy and one girl from each district is chosen to compete in the Hunger Games. In all 24 boys and girls from the ages of 12-18 are thrown into an arena and are forced to fight to the death. I can't wait to read the second book.

4. Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet - This is a story told from the point of view of a Chinese man. He remembers his time in Seattle as a boy during World War 2. He strikes up a friendship with a Japanese girl, strictly forbidden in those days, and eventually falls in love with her. They are torn apart when she is forced into an entrapment camp.

5. Two from Galilee: The Story of Mary and Joseph - I adore a good love story. It's a must to keep me interested in a book. This is the ultimate love story because it is the story of Mary and Joseph. It is told in such delicate detail and is a beautiful story.

My other favorites:
The Twilight series - Of course! Who doesn't like a good vampire story.
Everyone is Beautiful - Every mom or future mom should read this. So true to life.
Anything by Nicholas Sparks - I'm a hopeless romantic. My favorite of his are The Lucky One, A Bend in the Road, and Dear John.
